Welcome to my website.
My name is Jane Lightbourne and I write fiction for children and adults, published by Nevada Street Press named BEST EMERGING INDEPENDENT PUBLISHER 2024 at the UK ENTERPRISE AWARDS 2024. I live in London with my three children and our two cats. I originally trained as a barrister. You can find out more about me and my books by using the links above.
My first poetry collection, Bright Dust, is out now and a second collection will be released soon. I’m delighted that Waterstones and Daunt Books Hampstead are stocking copies in their stores. The collection has been awarded a Badge of Excellence by The International Review of Books, who describe the poems as “Beautiful and profound but also tender and enigmatic … A testament to Jane Lightbourne’s promising talent in the literary world.’
The title has gathered some good reviews on Goodreads that you can read here
My book, Loss, for adults, psychological fiction, is available as an ebook and paperback. You can find out more about this title and purchase a copy by clicking here. A love story set in London and the Scottish Highlands, Loss has been awarded a Badge of Excellence by the International Review of Books, who have described it as ‘beautifully written.' I am delighted that Waterstones is selling copies in its stores and that the kindle version was awarded an orange flag/bestseller status by Amazon in Canada. The film option has been sold (subject to funding) to Narwhal Productions Ltd.
My chapter book for children aged 8 to 12, My Cat Called Red, about a red cat with a magic purr, is available through Amazon and other major retailers and is now available as an audiobook. The title was awarded five star reviews by Amazon and Goodreads readers. The paperback has also been sold by Waterstones, Daunt Books, Hampstead and The Village Shop and Space, Greenwich. Both children’s books have been stocked widely throughout the local and national library networks, to include, amongst others, the Lewis Carroll library, the Paddington Children’s Library, the Birmingham and Kent library networks and the Greenwich, Downham, Deptford and Blackheath libraries.
My chapter book for children 8 to 12, A Tale of Three Tabbies, is based on a real rescue of three Greek street cats during the pandemic. LoveReading4Kids have described it as “A heart-warming survival story - a tale of hope, humanity, triumph over danger and adversity, and winning against all the odds.” A second edition, with a new cover, pictured here, is now available. A percentage of royalties from the sale of the book will go to help Greek cat welfare charities. A Tale of Three Tabbies is now widely available throughout the local and national library network.
I AM THRILLED THAT NEVADA STREET PRESS HAS BEEN AWARDED BEST EMERGING INDEPENDENT PUBLISHER 2024 AT THE UK ENTERPRISE AWARDS 2024. Thank you to all my loyal customers and the local businesses that have supported my business and helped it to thrive.
